Senior BUU officials recently met with a delegation from the Republic of Montenegro to reaffirm their educational ties and pledged to strengthen these over the coming months and years.

BUU’s Secretary of the Party Committee Chu Guoqing and Vice President Chang Hongmei welcomed Ms. Anđela JAKŠIĆ STOJANOVIĆ, Minister of Education, Science and Innovation and her delegation.

Chu Guoqing reflected on the cooperation with the University of Donja Gorica (UDG) and the mutual cooperation between the two. “The Tourism Confucius Classroom at UDG has played a very important role in promoting academic cooperation between the two universities and the two countries,” he said. “We hope to carry out exchanges and cooperation with more Montenegrin universities and also welcome Montenegrin teachers and students to visit BUU, to promote more cooperation between China and Montenegro in the field of higher education.”

Anđela JAKŠIĆ STOJANOVIĆ thanked BUU for its warm reception. She mentioned that the first international cooperation agreement she signed as the minister in 2023 was entitled the "2024-2027 Educational Cooperation Agreement" with the Ministry of Education of China. This aims to encourage courses on each other's national languages and cultures and supports the construction of Confucius Institutes (Classrooms).

“Montenegro attaches great importance to cooperation with China in the field of education and the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation of Montenegro is actively promoting Chinese language teaching in Montenegrin primary and secondary schools,” she said. “I hope both sides can continue to work together to promote exchanges and cooperation in the field of higher education.”

Finally, Chang Hongmei proposed as this year marks the 5th anniversary of the establishment of the Tourism Confucius Classroom at UDG and the 20th anniversary of the establishment of Confucius Institutes, BUU and UDG will jointly carry out a series of celebratory activities and invited the minister to attend.

Officials from the Division of International Exchange and Cooperation also participated in the talks.
