BUU’s International Education Achievements Were Exhibited at the China International Fair for Trade in Services

From September 4 to 9, BUU was invited to participate in the China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) Education Exhibition & International Forum on Trade in Education Service to showcase the university’s achievements in serving the “Belt and Road” initiative and the construction of Beijing as “Four Centers”, assisting national diplomacy and Beijing’s construction and development, and improving the university’s internationalization level. As the Chinese Presidential Institution of the China-Russia Transport University Rectors Alliance, BUU highlighted the achievements of exchange and cooperation between Chinese and Russian universities in the field of transport around the background of the establishment and development of the China-Russia Transport University Rectors Forum at this year’s CIFTIS. BUU also showcased its specialties in urban transportation, international logistics, electrical engineering, and intelligent manufacturing, which are based on the positioning of “urban and application-oriented” schooling through Sino-foreign cooperation. The university also highlighted its special achievements in promoting international students to enter BUU for academic education and improving the quality of education for foreign students coming to China.

In order to effectively respond to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s CIFTIS was held online and offline at the same time. The Cloud Exhibition Hall consisted of a 3D virtual exhibition hall and a plane exhibition hall. In accordance with the requirements of the Beijing Municipal Education Commission, BUU completed the set-up of its cloud exhibition hall and the uploading of exhibits while participating in the exhibition offline after the preliminary material collection, data arrangement and video editing. The exhibition contents include pictures and videos showing the special achievements of BUU in serving the “Belt and Road” initiative and the construction of Beijing as “Four Centers”; in conducting international exchanges and cooperation and Sino-foreign cooperation in education; in improving the quality of teaching for international students; as well as showcasing the positive influence of the China-Russia Transport University Rectors Alliance in advancing exchanges and cooperation between Chinese and Russian universities in the field of transport. BUU’s Cloud Exhibition Hall was selected as an Excellent Booth.

At this year’s CIFTIS, BUU discussed cooperation with Beijing Media, Tunisia Yafei International Development Alliance, Haidian Pioneer Park Business Incubation Center of Zhongguancun Science and Technology Park, University Canada West, and Global Yutong Education Technology Company, receiving more than 330 inquiries from visitors and distributing more than 200 copies of BUU promotional materials.

2020 CIFTIS was co-hosted by the Ministry of Commerce and the Beijing Municipal People’s Government. Chinese President Xi Jinping addressed the CIFTIS Global Trade in Services Summit. With the theme of “Global Services, Shared Prosperity”, this year’s CIFTIS comprised one comprehensive exhibition and eight thematic exhibitions around the development and achievements of service industry and service trade, and the smart application of cutting-edge technologies. The Education Exhibition & International Forum on Trade in Education Service, co-sponsored by the Ministry of Education and Beijing Municipal People’s Government and organized by Beijing Municipal Education Commission, was one of the major activities of the 2020 CIFTIS. With the theme of “Education Leads the Future – Openness, Cooperation, Innovation and Development”, the activity showcased and discussed China’s achievements of education service trade, the development trend of international education service trade and new opportunities for educational development in the post-epidemic era.

It is reported that the offline exhibitors of 2020 CIFTIS involved 11 universities and two advanced vocational schools in Beijing, including Tsinghua University, Peking University, Beijing Normal University, Beijing Union University, Beijing University of Technology and China Conservatory of Music. CIFTIS has been successfully held for six sessions since the first one was held in 2012 and has developed into the largest comprehensive exhibition in the field of global trade in services and the leading exhibition in China. It has become one of the three major exhibitions in China’s opening to the outside world together with China Import and Export Fair and China International Import Expo.
