On November 20, the 2020 Exchange Meeting of the China-Russia Transport University Rectors Forum was held in a combination of online and offline meetings. The meeting was hosted by the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation and the Russian University of Transport. BUU was invited to participate in the meeting as the Chinese presidential institution of the China-Russia Transport University Rectors Alliance. The forum was attended by Russian universities including the Russian University of Transport, Volga State University of Water Transport and Siberian State Transport University, as well as Chinese institutions and organizations including Beijing Jiaotong University, Dalian Jiaotong University, Zhengzhou Railway Vocational & Technical College, Eurasian International Association, China Railway Electrification Engineering Group, and Traffic Control Technology Co., Ltd. More than 50 representatives of Chinese and Russian universities, enterprises and students were present at the meeting. The forum was co-chaired by Levin Boris, the Russian Chairman of the China-Russia Transport University Rectors Alliance and Chairman of the School Board of the Russian University of Transport, and Yang Peng, Assistant to the President of BUU and Dean of the United Transport College of Beijing Union University and Russian University of Transport.

At the meeting

Themed with “working together to fight the pandemic - exchange and cooperation in the new situation”, the Exchange Meeting focused on the cooperation between Chinese and Russian universities in the field of transport under the new situation. Combining with the current situation of COVID-19 pandemic, the meeting discussed the experiences of Chinese-foreign cooperative education, the new mode of talents cultivation and the existing problems and suggestions in the field of transport under the background of Internet, which would play a positive role in promoting the development of Chinese-Russian cooperative education, cooperative research and talents cultivation and continuously improve the international influence of the universities. At the meeting, Li Xikui, Vice President of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Counties, and Liu Jin, Director General of the International Department of the Ministry of Education, sent their congratulatory videos; the Russian State Duma sent a congratulatory message; more than 20 representatives from China and Russia delivered speeches at the meeting. Zhou Tong, Vice President of BUU, was invited to give a keynote speech. The Russian Studies Center of BUU, a center for country and regional studies registered at the Ministry of Education, was also officially settled in the United Transport College of Beijing Union University and Russian University of Transport.

Since the first China-Russia Transport University Rectors Forum was held in May 2014 at St. Petersburg State Transport University, six sessions have been held so far. With the strong support of the Chinese and Russian government departments, the members of the China-Russia Transport University Rectors Alliance have cooperated closely, shared their knowledge with each other and achieved impressive results.
