Recently, the Ministry of Education issued the “Notice on the Announcement of the List of National and Provincial First-class Undergraduate Major Construction Sites for the Year 2020” (Letter [2021] No. 7), in which five majors of the BUU, including Finance, were selected as national first-class undergraduate major construction sites, and 12 majors of the BUU, including History, were selected as Beijing municipal first-class undergraduate major construction sites.

It is reported that the Ministry of Education has identified 3,977 national first-class undergraduate professional construction sites, of which 1,387 belong to the central track and 2,590 belong to the local track. At the same time, the provincial education administrative departments have identified 4448 provincial first-class undergraduate major construction sites. The "Double-Ten-Thousand Plan" for the construction of first-class undergraduate majors is an important initiative of the Ministry of Education to fully implement the spirit of the National Education Conference and the National Conference on Undergraduate Education in the New Era, to strengthen first-class undergraduate programs, build first-class majors, cultivate first-class talents, comprehensively revitalize undergraduate education, improve the ability of universities to cultivate talents and achieve the internal development of higher education.

In recent years, the BUU has attached great importance to the construction of majors, and integrated the design and implementation of ideological and political theories teaching in all majors and courses, which has achieved remarkable results. At the same time, the school takes the declaration and construction of first-class majors as a priority, actively adapts to the needs of regional economic and social development, continuously optimizes the structure of majors and the allocation of school resources, establishes a dynamic adjustment mechanism, creates a good atmosphere of professional education, and improves the ability and standard for major construction. In the future, the university will align itself with the requirements of first-class major construction, and promote the internal construction of majors based on the OBE education philosophy, highlight the role of first-class majors as demonstrators and leaders, lead the optimization of major structure, promote the quality of major construction, and facilitate the formation of a high-level talent training system.
